Priority Legislation for Advocacy Day 2019:
A Strong Start for Every Child:
Investment in Early Childhood Education
Governor Newsom's proposed Early Childhood Investment includes funding for expanding & upgrading childcare facilities, development screenings, home-visiting programs, expansion of pre-school and more.
Affordable Housing for Every Individual:
ACA 1: Community Say for Community Needs Act
ACA 1 will empower local governments and voters to do what is best for our families and neighbors. The Community Say for Community Needs Act changes a restrictive threshold that limits voters’
say in our communities.
Economic Security for All:
SB 144: Ending Criminal Fees & Fines
This bill will end the assessment and collection of administrative fees imposed against people in the criminal justice system. By doing so, it would dramatically reduce the economic hardships caused by court-ordered debt and enhance the economic security of system-involved populations, their families and their communities.
AB 24: Targeted Child Tax Credit
Part of the End Child Poverty package to eliminate deep child poverty for 450,000 California children when fully implemented, this bill will develop a targeted child tax credit for those in deep poverty.
